Tips for Success

So you’re thinking of becoming a tradie? Here are some tips to set yourself up for success when applying for an apprenticeship!

Industry employers are currently seeking these things from people interested in a trade pathway (ie. an apprenticeship):

  • Driver’s licence
    P plates or full licence
  • Reliable car
  • White Card
Required by all employees in the Building and Construction industry. This serves as proof that workers have a basic understanding of health and safety precautions on a work site. Check online for your nearest training provider for details.
  • Cert II pre-employment course
This is not essential with all employers, but will give you an understanding of what to expect at trade school as an apprentice, and in the industry. Modules completed in Cert II will not need to be repeated during apprenticeship Cert III.
  • Industry related work experience
  • A good attitude and a willingness to learn
