Solid Plasterer / Renderer

As a Solid Plasterer or Renderer you apply plaster, cement and other mixtures to walls, ceilings and external surfaces to create smooth or textured finishes and protective coatings on buildings.

Solid Plasterers and Renderers work on both new constructions and renovations, playing a key role in the look and performance of interior and exterior spaces. They repair existing render, install pre-fabricated coins and decorative features.

A typical day may involve:

  • Inspecting surfaces and preparing them by cleaning, sanding, or applying bonding agents
  • Mixing plaster, cement, lime, and render to the required consistency for the job
  • Applying base coats and top coats of plaster or render to internal and external walls and ceilings
  • Using trowels, brushes, and other tools to spread, level and smooth coatings to an even finish
  • Creating textured, decorative or protective finishes depending on job specifications
  • Fixing mesh or lath where extra support is needed for render or plaster
  • Repairing cracks, holes or damaged sections in existing plaster or render surfaces
  • Cleaning tools, maintaining equipment and ensuring work areas are safe and tidy
