Chris began his journey in the building and construction industry in 2007. During school, he developed a strong interest in hands-on subjects such as technical studies, which led him to leave school at 17 and start an apprenticeship in carpentry. As a Master Builders graduate, he now brings more than 15 years of experience across the industry.

He is living proof that with the right mindset, anything is possible. In 2015, Chris survived a shark attack while surfing near Port Lincoln, resulting in an above-knee amputation and uncertainty about his future on the tools. He was determined not to let this setback define him and continued working as a carpenter in the residential building sector.

During this time, he gained extensive experience across all areas of residential carpentry, including home improvements, extensions and high-end new builds.

It is a privilege for Chris to continue contributing to the building and construction industry in a new way, by inspiring the next generation to explore careers in this field. This industry has given him a strong sense of purpose over the past 15 years, and he looks forward to continuing this work through the Born to Build program.
